About SurveilSafe
What Is SurveilSafe?
SurveilSafe is an Australian registered charity that helps people who are concerned they may be subject to unlawful surveillance, tracking, or technology-facilitated abuse.
We support individuals in situations where something does not feel right, often long before there is clear proof or a defined legal pathway. Our work focuses on practical safety, evidence-based assessment, and helping people regain privacy, control, and peace of mind.
Examples of how SurveilSafe has helped include:
-
Supporting an elder abuse case where family members were accessing and misusing an elderly person’s bank accounts and attempting to erase evidence. We identified indicators of financial abuse, documented findings, and referred the matter to police for further action.
-
Assisting a woman experiencing domestic violence where an ex-partner used coercive control involving their child to introduce hidden surveillance and listening devices into the home. While police were unable to act immediately on the surveillance aspect, we documented and preserved evidence for legal proceedings, disabled and removed tracking mechanisms, and supported referrals for counselling and protective measures through appropriate services.
-
Helping a man who believed he was “going crazy” after ongoing privacy violations. We identified covert listening devices in his home, malware on his phone and computer, and multiple tracking devices placed in his belongings and vehicle. We documented the findings, removed the devices, and restored his sense of safety and privacy.
In addition to individual support, SurveilSafe also:
-
Conducts physical security assessments of homes, including checks for easily bypassed locks, vulnerable entry points, and hidden devices
-
Hosts community information nights and safety workshops
-
Delivers tailored training sessions for organisations and frontline workers
SurveilSafe also provides professional services to businesses, including:
-
Cybersecurity consulting
-
Vulnerability assessments and penetration testing
-
Security awareness training and speaking engagements
All revenue generated from business services is used to directly fund SurveilSafe’s charitable work for vulnerable individuals.
Our role is not to replace police, lawyers, or counsellors. It is to bridge the gap between suspicion and safety, using technical expertise, ethical practice, and a human-centred approach.

Our Mission & Values
Our Mission
To protect people from unlawful surveillance, tracking, and technology-facilitated abuse by providing practical, ethical, and accessible counter-surveillance and safety support.
We exist to reduce harm, restore control, and help people feel safer in their homes, devices, and daily lives.
Our Vision
A community where people are not controlled, intimidated, or silenced through technology or covert surveillance, and where support is accessible without judgement, cost barriers, or fear of not being believed.
Our Approach
SurveilSafe operates with a safety-first, trauma-informed approach.
We listen first. We explain clearly. We do not rush people, escalate risk unnecessarily, or make assumptions. Recommendations are practical, proportional, and tailored to each situation.
Where illegal activity is identified, we prioritise evidence preservation and can work with police to ensure appropriate documentation and chain of custody.

Cutting-Edge Technology
We use industry-standard techniques and equipment appropriate to real-world threats.
This includes physical, wireless, and digital assessment methods focused on detecting commonly misused surveillance and tracking technologies.

Data Security and Privacy
Client safety includes data safety.
SurveilSafe is designed to minimise data retention, avoid unnecessary collection of identifying information, and separate sensitive details from technical case material.
Confidentiality is not optional. It is built into how we operate.

Dedicated Support
Each case is handled with care, discretion, and continuity.
People are supported by assessors who understand both the technical risks and the human impact of surveillance and control.
We are honest about our limits and will recommend external services when something falls outside our scope.
